Good news

I got the job. I am VERY excited. I start January 2nd. I am working my last two weeks notice first. (I have 5 more shifts left.) There will be lots to learn as I am sure much has changed since the last time I worked at a vet. I am even already dreaming about it at night. Abit nervous about the big change but mostly excited. It will be so nice to sleep on a normal schedule again.

I am still not quite done with my holiday shopping. I just fell behind. I think it was because I have some hard to buy for people on my list. Plus it hadn't snowed until recently, which totally affects how much I am into the Christmas spirit. It certainly made up for being late by dumping a TON of it on us recently. I think we got a measured amount of 18 inches. It is much deeper in some places because the wind made alot of high drifts. Crazy. And now it is super cold. I think it is about 6 degrees right now. Brrrrr.

I hope everyone has a safe, warm and happy holiday!!

Can I bribe the judges??

So I did apply for the vet receptionist job. They had me come in for an interview and yesterday I went in to shadow for a few hours. I think that was more to see if I gel'd with the staff more than to see what the job entailed since I have done that job previously. (long, long ago) I think I did ok. I didn't say anything stupid or trip and fall down the stairs. (always a possibility with me and a staircase) They were all very nice to me. There was a conversation about a craving for cinnamon rolls between some staff members so now I am resisting the urge to go take them a box. I'm pretty sure that would be a tad to obvious.

Now I am just waiting for a phone call to see if they offer me the position.

Waiting isn't my strong suit. I think I'll go do some shopping so I'm not sitting by the phone.

Temptation

I saw an ad yesterday for a job opening at a local veterinarians office as a tech. I'm thinking I might apply.

Yes, I am a fan

So I finally finished the Twilight saga. And I've seen the movie, twice. The movie is one of the best adaptations from a book to a movie that I have ever seen. High praise as most fall short of the books they are based on. Gotta say I highly recommend it all. I mean who can blame me when the lead vamp (Edward) looks this hot? My daughter who is 13 made fun of me when I stated reading the series. Now she is as hooked as I am. Probably more. Who can resist a love story involving a guy that is both bad AND good. My husband says it is because women can't make up their minds as to what they really want. No choice to make when the guy is a bit of both.

Check out the authors website FMI: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/ I also noticed that JAcob blaCK = Jack, the name of my somewhat wolfy looking akita. Hmmm Nice coincidence. :-)

A Little Crazyness

I hope everyone had a great holiday. This is my sisters very first Turkey. I am here to attest it came out wonderfully.
*
I handled my first code at work Thankgiving night and it was someone I knew. (a heart attack where the person passed away) How awful that a holiday will now be a sad reminder for his family. You just never know when your time will be up with a family member so act accordingly.
*
I have been fighting off a cold while also trying to sleep with a huge kink in my neck. It doesn't work so good. I am exhausted. Thank heavens for sudafed, at least I can function for small amounts of time pretty well. Perhaps a trip to the chiropractor today is a good idea.
*
Our pet rabbit Oz passed away. He was very old though so it wasn't totally expected. He was originally a stray and we had him for at least 6 years. Rabbits aren't nortoriously known for long lives, especially outside ones. (which I don't recommend but in our case was unavoidable) He was the last of our buns so now we just have the dogs.
*
Thanksgiving, before work, was good. We spent it at my sisters this and she did an awesome job with the meal. Here is a photo of my family she took for us.

Now we just have to survive the Christmas shopping. (oh yeah, I gave up on my "project" and cut my hair)

It all comes to an end eventually

Mmmm more yummy.

Book 4 and supposedly the last in the series. I am reading it slowly to make the adventure last. Today I am going to see the Twilight movie with my sister and a friend. DD is away and has been trying to give me a guilt trip about it. But she used to make fun of me for getting into the series so it isn't working. Now that she has started reading it herself and is hooked she is interested too. Of course I will take her when she gets back, which means I'll get to see the movie again. I'm no dummy. VBG

P.S. Two new links have been added to the blogroll. Enjoy!

I love blue

Yesterday I had to drive to Portland. On the way is Romney Ridge Farm. She has an adorable little shop and the CUTEST animals ever. I had some wool to drop off and while there couldn't resist this skein of yarn. I have a thing for blue that started back in the 5th grade when a friend announced green was her favorite color. I hadn't thought about one favorite before so I looked around and decided I couldn't live without seeing blue everyday. That decision has stood the test of time and I find myself still in love with the color.

I have no idea what project this will be. I have a hat I badly need to finish first so perhaps this will be my reward for getting that accomplished.
I'm thinking perhaps a pretty scarf, neck collar or some cute fingerless mitts like the ones seen here: http://maryjanemidgemink.blogspot.com/2008/10/frill.html#links I could even wear those at work, my hands get cold easily and this would be a great and attractive way to keep them warm and still be able to type. I suppose I shouldn't be thinking ahead with the hat waiting to be finished though.

And here is some of my progress. My daughter who also knits has "misplaced" my favorite cable needle so today I'll go get a new one. Then I will have no more excuses for the stall. (which I don't really since I know you can just use a regular needle too) The kids are away for a few days so I might have some free time to get some more done on it.
Wish me luck! Winter feels like it is very close now. Brrrrrrr!!!
